What do you mean by ‘Unlimited’?
Unlimited doesn’t always mean unlimited… I understand your skepticism!
However Web 5 Hosting Packages are about as unlimited as you’re going to get and have numerous features you’d usually have to pay for separately with other hosting packages.
The ‘Unlimited’ elements of our hosting are –
‘Unlimited’ Disc Space (the amount of data you have stored on the server that is your website content)
‘Unlimited’ bandwidth (the amount of data is requested from you website)
‘Unlimited’ email accounts – yep.. tuck in.. there’s no restrictions here.. and a massive 10GB for each mailbox.. If you want a bigger mailbox, you can order more in 10GB increments.
‘Unlimited’ email forwarders – you can set up as many forwarders as you like!
‘Unlimited’ alias’ – Add more domain names to your account and use them as alias addresses
‘Unlimited MySql databases’ – Linu and Windows platforms have unlimited databases.. WordPress hosting is restricted to 1 because that’s what it uses!
Mail tips - Avoiding Spam
Spam is a fact of life. It’s often not your fault, maybe a friend has you in a contact list but applied a weak password to their web-based account.. and they got hacked… or maybe a bona fide business you needed to give your details to has ‘accidentally’ let it go to a third party… or maybe their database got hacked. There will always be a leak and you will always get spam. You can, however, limit it. With your hosting, you can create as many email ‘alias” as you like, so create some for communicating with the important secure places you do business with and give them individual email addresses. Give the more ‘throwaway’ sites a temporary email eddress you can create to forward to your main account. Easy! Now just monitor which email address is getting the spam and either delete it or change it.
You can also manage spam by installing a filter either locally on your device or on the server to actively remove mail before it gets to your inbox. Although server spam filters are very good, they’re not infallible and you need to be prepared to have the odd bona fide email trapped in this filter. Marking junk or spam mail and applying rules in your local mail browser affords you the opportunity to review junk mail if you think you’ve missed something so we recommend the latter as a cost-effective solution.
Email Tips - POP or IMAP?
Email Management
With a standard mailbox you can choose either ‘POP’ or ‘IMAP’ settings for receiving and managing your email.
If you choose POP, you can receive all emails on all devices that you use and they can be managed separately. You might want to keep all your messages on a PC whilst deleting mail from a mobile device as you go.
If you choose IMAP, you synchronise the same mail folders on all your devices simultaneously. Although sometimes useful, the drawbacks are that you’ll need to maintain the mailbox folders correctly and not delete a message on one device, as it will delete on another. Also, synchronising the accounts sometimes take a few moments which can be annoying on mobile devices with low signals and data transfer speeds.
